Initiation to watchmaking

The Alpha course allows participants to discover watchmaking in an original and fun way. The course begins with a theoretical introduction on the functioning of a mechanical watch, explained by Initium's Master watchmaker.

Afterwards, you sit at the workbench and execute the disassembly and reassembly of a movement, which can be hand-wound or automatic according to your preferences.


Technical specifications of

If you choose an Alpha automatic course, your initiation to watchmaking will happen on an ETA 2892 or SW300 movement. These calibres have been added in iconic watches of Swiss watchmaking for decades. Their thinness and reliability are very popular among many brands for the conception of complex watches.

• 38h power-reserve

Technical specifications of

If you choose an Alpha manual course, your initiation to watchmaking will happen on a Unitas 6497 movement. This caliber has been created in the fifties by the Swiss brand Unitas and is a hand-wound movement that is extremely reliable. Its legendary robustness earned the "tractor" nickname in the watchmaking industry.

• Hand-wound movement
• 42h power-reserve

Schedule

09h00 - 09h15 :       Warm welcome in our workshops, with coffee and chocolate pastries


09h15 - 10h00 :       Theoretical explanations on historical and technical aspects of watchmaking


10h00 - 12h00 :       Disassembly and reassembly of a mechanical movement, with the support of the Master watchmaker


12h00 - 12hxx :       Celebration of your success with an aperitive and a certificate with your name
