Since 2015, Initium has specialized in organizing watchmaking initiation workshops and mechanical watchmaking creation. Today, we are taking on a new challenge – and unlike our last, such as the watchmaking kit launched in 2021, this one ventures out of the watchmaking field!
After months of iteration, development and investment, we are bringing to fruition a major project under the sign of craftsmanship and experience:

The origins of the project: why jewelry?
After Initium Watches and its numerous variations of the watchmaking experience, the company aimed to expand into a new sector: jewelry.
Jewelry is an ancestral art just like watchmaking, with which it shares many synergies.
On the one hand, its differences represent an opportunity – diversification of activities means new growth possibilities, including expanding targets and leveraging our skills, technologies, and resources. We will discuss the financial and strategic aspects in a future newsletter.
On the other hand, jewelry-making, like watchmaking, is an exciting traditional art, allowing the same range of experiences that Initium holds dear.
Through the Jewelry workshops, participants will experience the joy of sharing a convivial and pleasant moment, the satisfaction of creating an object with their own hands that has a strong sentimental value, the curiosity of discovering an unfamiliar artisanal world, and the use of professional equipment guided by a jewelry expert.
Who is Fawn, the project manager?
Fawn Moreau has been a project manager at Initium for over a year. With a double master’s degree in business and luxury design from Paris, she has always been passionate about drawing, jewelry-making, writing, and the arts in general.
With her creative and curious spirit, she has been developing the Initium Jewelry concept since February 2022 in terms of design, budget, feasibility, and positioning.
The challenge was significant because the project faced technical, legislative, and time constraints that were resolved gradually until its realization, which is coming very soon…
Where will the workshop be held?
Initially, the jewelry-making workshops can be attended in our Geneva venue, located just above our current watchmaking space, in the heart of the old town.
On the one hand, this allows us to consolidate our activities in the same geographical location, greatly optimizing the organization and distribution of resources.
On the other hand, it has symbolic significance: Geneva is a city steeped in history, counted among the artistic capitals of the twentieth century for ornamentation, watchmaking, and jewelry-making. It is the perfect place to delve into the mysteries of this ancient art!
How does the Jewelry Workshop work?
The jewelry-making workshop will take place over half a day – the schedule may vary depending on the complexity of the chosen piece of jewelry – alongside a jewelry expert and in a group of up to five participants per jeweler (we can also accommodate larger groups).
After receiving the necessary explanations on how to use the tools and basic postures, the participant will be asked to define the aesthetic of their jewelry. Whether it’s a ring or a bracelet, there are multiple customization possibilities to create a unique piece of jewelry that reflects their personality.
Once the design is chosen, it’s time to learn about the fascinating world of jewelry-making. Like a jeweler, the participant will experiment with different techniques – soldering, filing, setting, and polishing – until their piece of jewelry is realized.
